Individual shipping ammo?

OK friends, I want to ship a few boxes of handloads to a friend out of state. UPS tells me one must be a contract shipper with them who possesses a HazMat certification - they don't do over-the-counter ammo. Note that this is not a UPS "Store," but a regular UPS location. Any ideas, please?
 
Go back to UPS as ask to speak to someone who knows what is going on.

UPS ships ammo for individuals all the time.

agreed. check thier website. thier own rules clearly state it's ok, and how to mark the box accordingly.

I think you have to mark them with the "ORM-D, Cartridge, Small Arms" stickers (or handwritten they told me was also ok) on all 6 sides of the box.I think that was all though.
 
They certainly do ship across the counter.
I've done it, ask for a supervisor who can read their regs.
