Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum and I'm in search of knowledge and advice about developing an indoor firing range.
I live in a rural area in the pacific northwest where the closest indoor range is about 50 miles away. There is a large shooting community here that typically uses local gravel pits but it rains here all the time. It seems that it would be a welcome and successful business venture to put together an indoor range open to the public.
So I've looked at the NRA pages and researched it quite a bit regarding bullet traps, HVAC, sound abatement, etc and have all but abandoned the idea due to the seemingly massive cost of retrofitting an existing building.
Just recently I came across a product by AIS call QuickRange which is a shipping container converted into a firing range that can be delivered, plugged into power and ready to go.
Anyway, at this point I'm considering the idea of purchasing some 40 foot containers and retrofitting those myself and I'm just wondering what anyone knows about the legality and feasibility of such an idea.
Any and all thoughts are welcomed...
