I tried searching old threads but the exact topic seems tough to find...

So for indoor home defense, what is the best power with least penetration, chosing between 9mm and .45acp? I am hankering for an autoloader but I'm not sure which one...

Thanks!

That will largely depend upon the specific load, not just the caliber. For instance, the prefragmented ammo, like Glaser and MagSafe, usually exhibit the least penetration, breaking up on contact with hard surfaces, while the FMJ rounds usually exhibit the most. I don't like either of those, since I want something that still works after a couple of layers of sheetrock, and since I would never trust any typical interior wall to stop any round. Personally, I would suggest a lighter weight hollowpoint in a large caliber, such as a 165-200 gr. JHP in .45 ACP. These will penetrate interior walls.
