Inflating the numbers.

I am not trying to deminish pain, but I don't know if anyone else realized what the Brady Campaign has done with the numbers of mass shootings. According to the FBI, the definition of a mass killing is "Four or more murders occuring during a particular event with no cooling off period." I found this out a few months back when researching what seemed like a large increase in the numbers of reported mass killings that seemed to come out of nowhere. The Brady Campaign is classifying a mass killing as an event where 3 or more people are injured or killed. It is being presented this way to mislead lie and they have been feeding it to media outlets. They have taken the number from their mass shootings index.

In contrast, a "spree-killing" is one in which the perpetrator(s) moves from place to place, killing one or more people (again, totalling at least either three or four) in different locations. I think the VPC (the "Brady group") has used them as well to pad their numbers.
