I think that is way too much. I'd recommend you look into a new CZ for less money. With the CZ you are almost guaranteed a accurate piece. The Rugers are generally not much more than good looking plinkers. With a lot of luck you may get a tack driver but more than likely not.

If it was the stainless laminated Ruger 77/22 I would think about it. But not that model. The stainless Laminated 77/22 model usually shoot much better from my experience. If I was you I would take a look at a CZ 452 22 LR American or Varmint. You should be able to buy a new CZ cheaper. Plus an average CZ 452 will shoot better than a average Ruger 77/22.

I think it's to much, but that's about what I've been seeing them go for around here as well.

I'm not for supporting Walmart, but you can ask their gun department how much from them. They don't like to do gun transfers from other stores, but they will.

I'd second the CZ 452 though. Look hard and you should be able to find one for 350-400.00 NIB. Prices are going up on them though. I just bought a NIB 452 in .22 for 349.00. Walmart can get you one for 370.00 or that's what they were a few weeks back.

I'll add my vote for the CZ. My personal favorite CZ-452 is the "FS" or "Full Stock" model.

However, the CZ-452 Varmint is also a fine rifle. Then, if you'd prefer a rifle with a single set trigger, consider the CZ-453 American or Varmint.

The CZ-452 is made in various models and generally requires some minor trigger work for a light, clean-breaking trigger. Various kits are sold to do just that and it's easy to do. Or, do as I did and replace the factory trigger spring with a lighter one and stone the trigger/sear surfaces. Either way, you'll end up with a rifle that will easily out shoot the average 77/22 Ruger and cost less to boot. (The Ruger faithful will claim it ain't so but check around and I think you'll find that I'm correct) You'll have to spend twice the money - or more - to get a better shooting rifle than the CZ.
