This question is going to be rather specific, but I am hoping that someone out there has already resolved this issue for themselves and can help me out. I have the Inline Fabrications press riser (seen here ), and I have my Lee Classic Turret press installed on it. Previously when I had this press installed on my reloading bench, it was hanging over the edge of my bench and I had a clear vinyl hose attached to the bottom of the ram to catch the spent primers in an old Gatorade bottle. However, with this riser, I have the press mounted a couple of inches further back than before and the ram no longer hangs over the edge of the bench.

Now I'm having a difficult time figuring out a way to capture all of those spent primers as I reload. Currently I have a piece of a Coke can that I cut down to fit under the ram, but about 30% or more of the primers end up bouncing out of this "pan" or not even making it into it.

Has anyone come across this issue, and if so, how have you resolved it? :banghead:

BTW: The reason I mounted the press further back, rather than overhanging like before is because on my new bench I have a drawer underneath where the press is mounted and I am trying to keep full use of the drawer.

Thanks in advance,

might work

If you have room, put 3 to 4 inches of your plastic hose beck on and put a plug or cap on the other end.

+1 Can you use the original hose & cap, but just cut it down shorter ?
..or, use a short section of hose to feed into the old Gatorade bottle.

You can buy the hose at Lowe's.

I have a similar set up but used Dillon Strong Mounts and made my own mounting plate. Works great.

A ~2 inch length of hose can't do much good. The spent primer drops when the ram is fully extended. There is barely room left to empty a few primers when the ram is in its home position.

Not having tried anything, since I was able to drill through my bench, I would suggest exploring ways to catch and deflect falling primers like wrinkled newpaper in a secured bin of some sort and with sides as high as will fit.

You could also drill a hole big enough for a catcher funnel and put a cup in the drawer below.

There is room for just enough tube length for the falling primers to clear the crank mechanism. The primers will then not have far to fall to hit the funnel area.

What about a cut down rectangular plastic storage container with a patch of carpet in the bottom? The side walls will prevent some of the bounce out and the patch of carpet will stop much of the bouncing in the first place.

When I was using a similar Lee press I made up a clip on side shield that caught a lot of the primers that would have flown out to the side. You might try that as well.
