The pro-gun documentary by www.jpfo.org is available. Please click on the site and check it out. Pretty powerfull stuff. Those that don't believe in firearms ownership NEED to see it. Not for the squeamish or young kids, but it lays out what CAN happen when citizens can't protect themselves. Documents anti-gun ownership laws and what followed in various countries.

Still waiting for my DVD copy. I'll going to show it to everybody who comes to my home. :D

Gary, I ordered another copy for my fence sitting brother. You know the type of guy that thinks a shotgun or hunting rifle is great, but why would you need anything else. My copy will go to work tomorrow for a long time friend and co-worker to view.. A guy that seemed actually startled when I told him I had joined the JPFO. I guess he thought it strange since I'm not Jewish. Hell, I may join the Pink Pistols and REALLY get him thinking.:D

Got mine today

I got minde and watched it.
sure is nice to see my name scroll up the screen...
I liked it but it is very specific. Genocide only....
I'd like to see another movie made alittle more broad...
Maybe call it
"No Moore Lies"
Whatcha think?

hoppinglark, I agree. I originally thought it would be a film showed on cable. Maybe, History Channel for example. I've showed it to several of my pro-gun friends. Unfortunately, their response was, "so what"? "Anyone that is pro-gun knows banning is bad". Several felt the interviews at the end, were more powerfull than the film. I'm glad I donated to the making of this project. I felt they laid out, through historical fact, what can happen. I don't believe it will make much of a dent, except to us in the choir. Just trying to be honest. I wish it were different. I bet, the release of this didn't cause 10 people here on THR to buy it. Many gun boards aren't much about guns/2nd Amendment Rights anymore.

I'm one on THR....

that bought it. Just ordered it and can't wait to get it. I will join also and I'm not a Jew.

It would seem that the JPFO would be a very effective lobbying group. Jews in this country have been very vocal about many things and almost always seem to get listened to. I hope that this organization is able to help effect some change in this area. I know I'm a supporter of them.

The fundamental problem with the approach is that it focuses a bit too narrowly on historical genocide, and doesn't get into the wider applicability to domestic crime and terrorism until the last 5 minutes or so of the film.

It is that it's all too easy for American's to get into the denial headspace, and pronounce "It can't happen here" (again), and I fear that the film doesn't bring the issue "home" for the uninitiated/undecided amongst us.

All in all, though, I think the film was worthy, and needed to be done in order to establish a baseline for discussion, but it's only a first step.

Bought it the day it came out. I'd wager a mite more than 10 people on THR bought it too.

geek - I haven't seen it yet myself, but have spoken with some of the people involved in the production, and the narrow focus is intentional. There's plenty of material out there about the relationship between armed citizens and common crime - and there isn't much out there about the relationship between armed citizens and genocide. It seems to me (keeping in mind that I haven't seen it yet) that one very important potential audience is the apolitical duck-hunter type of guy.

Also they are trying to get it on the History Channel and similar outlets. asn't happened yet...if anyone has any connections with places that might be interested in broadcasting it, I'd urge them to contact JPFO.

BTW, here's a full review of it:

Ian: That was kinda my take on it, that the point was to "read into the public record/consciousness the association between civilian disarmament and genocide".

To that narrow purpose, it nails the issue dead, so to speak. What it really needs is wider distribution, but with the anti's guarding the gates to mass media....grrrr.

I just got it and watched it this evening. It was very well produced, and I even learned a decent amount, which surprised me because I thought I would have known everything it had to say. I'm going to try to get it screened at my campus theater, I'll tell you how it goes if I manage too.
