I found this to be very interesting and to some extent 'revealing'. Maybe you will see a bit of yourself in it. Both sides (LEO/Civilian) must read!

Civilians, would you be willing to come to the aid of a police officer in an armed confrontation? I know I would in a heartbeat.

LEOs, would you welcome the assistance (assuming civilian didn't do something stoopid right off the bat)?

Yes, of course... but I'd be very understanding if the officer misunderstood my intentions. I do realize that my intervention could complicate matters rather than help.

I've C.C.ed for years and have only had one interaction with Law Enforcement in all of that time.
I was fatigued due to being caught in a snow storm for 4 hours this Christmas. In the last 5 miles of my trip, I was pulled over for "Weaving". It was 2am, I pulled over in to a Church parking lot and I handed over, my licence, insurance and CC licence immeadiatly.
My carry gun was secured in a holster at my 3 the entire time. NO ISSUE.
I was back on the road in less than 5 minutes, no harm; no foul.
I would have no issue helping an officer in an emergency,..any emergency.

and yes, I do look like a "Dirt Bag" but I do carry all the gear mentioned in the article. Flashlight, mag pouch, holster and cell phone. I'm more worried about being shot by an honest citizen than a Cop.

This article is very old and has been discussed ad nauseum on various gun forums. I imagine there are several old threads about it right here on THR.

Sorry I had not seen it before and I guess I'm not used to it being 2012 already.

Old article, that's been discussed before
many found it to be condescending

VERY cliche
the tone, is, well,
at least it's a somewhat positive light
