Just saw this in the NY Times.
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/01/opinion/black-gun-ownership.html

It is interesting in a few ways. First, it speaks to anxieties that a lot are feeling these days: some folks afraid of antifa, some of white supremacists. But the firearm is what you turn to when you don't think the normal systems of society will protect you.

Secondly, this is the group that the NRA (or whoever is actually defending 2A rights these days) needs to reach out to. The population of the US if going to be more diverse over the next century, and base of gunowners is going to be diverse as well, if we can find a way to pull them in. Otherwise, we will just lose.

Couldnt really read it, the website kept popping up paywalls asking for a subscription- and there is no way Im giving a dime to the NYT.

Does the article go on to paint expanded minority gun ownership as a good thing or do they somehow twist it into a derogatory byproduct of the "systemic racism" narrative?

That said, several of my shooting buddies are ethno-minorities and have expressed similiar sentiments from their friends and relatives who were previously against gun ownership.

I’m going to hold this for staff discussion.

Closed for the moment.
