Well after about a 20 year absence I'm planning to reload again.

I wanted to buy supplies on the Net for convenance and several cites have notices about not being able to ship powder and caps to NEW YORK locations.

...other cites don't have noticies but charge $25 for shipping hazardous materials like gun powder and caps.

....so this mandates purchases of powder and caps locally; right? What about if I travel to NJ: can I buy there or is that going to present issues if I am a resident of NY too?

Thx

I think the HazMat charges apply to all powders and primers to all states, there are no exceptions as far as I know. As far as the local rules, I have no idea.

I'm not aware of a state wide ban. Local ordinances may prevent it though, so maybe the companies have a policy against shipping to any NY location rather than trying to keep track of all the local laws.
The city of Rochester has a ban on mail order ammo. Normally I have stuff shipped to my wife's place of business so she can sign for it but Midway has it in their computer that ammo shipments are prohibited. Then I have them shipped to my home outside the city.

The correct answer is....

D. None of the above.

Move to Georgia where we license people, not guns, where you can still carry exposed, where if you shoot a felon you can't be sued, and where there's no 75% tax on cigars.

:D

robert,

JimKirk is correct, its a HazMat thing. If shipped from Midway in Mo, to my house in CO, HazMat fees apply on top of all other fees for shipping. AND, the primers will NOT be shipped with any powder purchased! AND, there will be the $25 HazMat fee for each pkg sent!
