Iran has actually sprouted an interesting cottage industry to manufacture parts for weapons it owns but can't get serviced due to sanctions and embargoes. (The F-14s we sold to the Shah, for example.)

IIRC, that was the Astra A-80.

The Astra A-80 only looks similar to the SIG/Sauer it is not a clone. The A-80 does not use the "SIG modified Browning lockup". It uses a Smith & Wesson type cam and lug lockup.
