I have a SOG Trident I carry with me to basically all places (where weapons are legally permissable). But, I've heard that carrying a lock-blade knife is illegal, or that if they're longer than 3 inches, it's also illegal....I think they're just rumors, though. I am 23, have a clean record, and live in Texas. Thanks in advance

The short answer is "Maybe". Some locations in TX have different rules. I can carry a larger knife in Austin, then I can in Corpus. In San Antonio you can't carry a knife that locks, but a fixed blade is ok.

Depends

On the location. I just came home from Fort Hood. In some of my adventures I was told by a LEO that a Buck 110 was illegal (seriously). Another said that my speed assist kershaw was Illegal because Texas had ruled open assisted knives as switchblades. Odd for a unformed soldier not to be able to carry a simple buck knife when half of us carried switchblades.
