I love how you ask a question here, and every post has a different answer.

Actually, the only misinformation in this thread that I can see is that "You cannot sell the gun EVER." Everything else is a discussion on different aspects of the same topic.

No need to write the ATF... there's lots of hobbyists that do this all the time. Go to http://www.homegunsmith.com/ for tons of information on the subject.

Not EVERYTHING that has to do with firearms is illegal. Hard to believe that you can make your own weapon without a SN, I know, but it's true. Feinstein and her ilk would have a conniption if they knew what was being built in garages around the country without them knowing a thing about it.

i didnt read the previous posts so im sorry if im repeating. but check nra-ila.org they say zip guns are illegal in most states. and they are generally "crude home-made guns". Ie lead pipe with a shotgun shell and firing pin. but im sure your question was about something less crude than that

Zip guns are easier to make with an antenna and rubber bands for .22 rimfire.
