Is it possible to have a better Memorial Day weekend than me?

All right...so this is gun related and I had to share with the THR community. Last Saturday I graduated from law school. It wasn't a short or easy road, in fact, it took 5 years and 2 law schools to get it done (long story). I was also selected by my classmates to give the farewell address.

The speech went well and was well received...further, graduating was an excellent feeling. A significant milestone.

But it gets better...

Because I have an incredible and progressive family...I did not get the kind of boring graduation gift you might expect. (you know, a fancy brief case or something like that) Instead, I got a brand spanking new CZ SP-01 complete with 6 extra factory magazines and a 250 round box of UMC.

How cool is that? I've been wanting to get one since they dropped from the factory and now I've got it...and a law degree to boot.

But it gets better...

Because on Sunday night, my wife went into labor and by 8:10 on Memorial Day she gave me an even better gift...our new baby daughter! Our first child and the first grandchild on both sides.

...so...can you top my Memorial Day weekend? :D (keeping it gun related of course. :neener:)

Pics of the new toy...

Congrats! How about pics of the new "toys"!:p
Hope everyone is doing well!

Man, I don't think I could make it through all of that alive. Too happy is possible, you know..

Unless Jesus appeared and kissed you right on the lips I dont see how it could be any better.

Actually, I guess he kind of did :)

Very awesome. Excellent weekend and you got an excellent gun in the process. God bless your growing family!

I'm not a...whaddya call it...Oleg or what not...but here is my attempt at pictures.

The SP-01. Certainly nice...and I am looking forward to shooting it. I previously owned an 85B and LOVED it.

The kiddo at about 14 hours old. FAR better than the CZ.

I have a feeling some might find it distasteful to mix guns and babies...but seeing as how one protects the other...I don't agree.

Sounds like an unforgettable weekend, congratulations. Make sure you don't use that law degree working for the ACLU, instead become a judge that protects the 2nd Amendment.

...well I did head up the law school's 2A group for two of my three years...and I'm probably not going to rush off to work for the ACLU...but my politics are...for lack of a better definition...complicated.

Regardless, I don't foresee ascending to the bench anytime soon or distant.

As far as the pics go...I wasn't terribly interested in getting the SP01 captured just so...that is pretty standard fare. Seen one...seen 'em all. But the pics of the little one were obviously more important.

I agree, the second is the best. It's kinda hard to beat a weekend where getting an SP-01 is the least exciting event! Congats and enjoy teaching her to shoot!

It's kind of funny, but tonight I was watching that great old John Wayne movie, "Red River". Near the end of the film, one of the actors, played by the great Harry Carey, Sr., says that there are three times in a man's life when he can go out and howl at the moon: when he gets married, when his first child is born, and when he accomplishes something really important. Well, I think you've covered two out of the three very nicely. Congratulations on your beautiful baby girl and your law school degree. Now go out and howl at the moon. Twice.

Oh man I thought I had a good weekend but you have me beat:

1. I also graduated from law school, Magna!
2. I sent the last draft of my law review paper to my publisher.
3. I went to the Gun Show at the Miami Fairgrounds
4. I bought my first pump shotgun. (I'm going to learn to shoot skeet and trap this summer)
5. I met up with tons of friends and made some new ones.

... but I think you got me beat with that little darling of yours, your first child is nice too.

But seriously, Congratulations.

Fantastic news in all areas of your life.

Your baby is absolutely beautiful! Grin.

Your new gun is not too bad looking either!

Blessings to you and yours.

Sincerely,

Catherine

Congrats on both your grades...and your pending publication. I achieved neither of those things. :D

...law school is a real slog...I've long since decided that I will be the first and last lawyer in the family tree. I'll encourage my daughter to do something useful...like engineering or super-modeling.

It's not gun related, so I won't tell you about Christie Brinkley and the butterscotch pudding.

Congrats on the family addition.
