I am wanting to get back up parts and such for my 1911 to have on hand. and for some of the things i need to know if i have a series 70, or 80, i am thinking that i have a series 70 but not for certain. anyway the 1911 in question is a SA Mc Operator. Thanks guys.

If it isn't a Colt, it isn't a Series 70 or Series 80, those Colt trademarks are regularly misused.

The Springfields don't have firing pin obstructions but they do have odd diameter titanium firing pins and very strong firing pin springs to accomplish the same purpose. They also have key locks in the mainspring housing. Everybody and his brother AND their lawyers think they know better than John Browning, Colt, and the U.S. Army. Phooey.

Except for the parts Jim Watson mentionded. The firing pins and FP spring are not series 70 parts, But as steelyblue says everything else is, more or less..

If it is not a Colt it is a copy...:neener:...and I own/have owned several of those copies. I very foolishly traded away my MC Operator, and I kick myself in the butt everytime I see one. You will be happy with your SA!!

On the springs, it doesn't matter anyway. A series 80 extractor will work in a series 70 gun, but not the other way around. The firing pin is the same way, but in your case you would need a Springfield specific FP, so that one won't affect you either. Order away.
