I remember debating his case with co-workers at the time, and back then I predicted he'd sooner or later wind up on the wrong side of the law again. There was no way he could have beat that innocent child to death without knowing that he was hurting her, because the severity of her injuries were such that she must have been screaming and begging him to stop. To have continued with an attack against a weaker individual under those circumstances clearly demonstrated a cruel nature, one with no regard for human life. An individual that evil at twelve years of age isn't likely to reform.
