Is the 8x56R the ugliest military rifle cartridge of the 20th century?

Putting my C&R to use, I recently purchased a French MAS 36 and Steyr M95 to add to my collection. Neither have arrived yet, but the cartridges for them have. The 7.5x54 is a standard looking cartridge, but when I cracked open a box of Hornady 8x56R I kid you not, I think I got a headache.

I know many would think this is silly and perhaps it is, but for me aesthetics fall into proportional dimensions. Sports cars, fighter jets, women... and yes, cartridges.
Not that it matters a hoot when it comes to performance, but I can't help but notice.

Can anyone thing of an uglier cartridge than the 8x56R?

the 8x56 hungarian may not be a pretty cartridge but when its in the magazine of your rifle, you'd never even know, i kinda like the M95 and might have to get me one so my mosin isn't so lonely... i'm more appalled by the look of the MAS-36 rifle, i hate those things because the way they look and because they're frenchie...

Yes, but.

I mean it has a certain Buck Rogers retro future chic about it. And think of it this way, next to a 8mm Lebel, the 8x56r looks positively svelt!

whats with the carcano?

I can tolerate the looks of the 6.5 Carcano. It's odd looking, but it doesn't look "wrong" to me as the 8x56R does. A Carcano and Arisaka are the next C&Rs on my list.
