So I've two sick firearms calling out for the assistance of THR's!

First is my Sig P220 which has been failing to lock the slide back when the magazine is empty. The magazines are Sig branded stainless steel 8 rounders I purchased new roughly 9 months ago. The gun is kept very clean and lubed, there are no obvious signs of damage and there are no missing/broken parts. The ammo is a blend of Winchester 230 grain JHP's, 230 grain ball, and my handloads with 200 grain XTP's. All rounds fire and extract perfectly. In all other ways the gun is working correctly.

Second is my Savage 10FP which is in .308 Winchester. It won't properly eject a spent case 95% of the time. The extractor hooks the cartridge, the plunger presses the case against the right side of the chamber until the mouth of the case is nearly to the ejection port at which point the case slips off the extractor and falls back into the bolt way. I've tried Winchester and Black Hills Match ammo as well as various "cycle speeds". It doesn't seem to matter how slow or how fast the bolt is cycled, the brass just won't stop falling back into the boltway. I took the extractor off the bolt face and inspected it for burrs. I found none. I then lightly oiled it and reassembled the bolt. Testing it with fired brass as well as aluminum snap caps proves that nothing has improved. The plunger presses down when I place a spent shell in the extractor hook and press the case head against the bolt head. The plunger seems like it's moving properly. I even went to the trouble of looking at other Savage boltheads at the store today to see if I could tell any difference between mine and theirs. So far the extractor looks exactly the same as does the plunger.

So I'm hoping you all have some ideas. I'm taking the Savage into a smith tomorrow however I'd love to hear any suggestions because I've just never heard of any problems associated with this system.

Did you ever fix the extractor problem? Because I'm having the exact same problem on my 10FLP in .308.

EXT PROBLEMS

THE EXTRACTION PROBLEM CAN BE A COUPLE POSSIBLITIES;
1/ THE DIAMETER OF THE BOLT RECESS ( WHERE THE CARTRIDGE SITS ) MAYBE A LITTLE TOO BIG AND UPON EXTRACTION THE EXTRACTOR CANNOT PUSH THE CASE TIGHT ENOUGH AGAINST THE FAR SIDE OF THE BOLT AND SIMPLY DROPS OFF .
2/ THE THE EXTRACTOR MAYBE TOO FAR AWAY FROM THE FACE OF THE BOLT CAUSING A SIMLAR SCENARIO.
3/THE EJECTOR SPRING MAY SIMPLY BE TOO WEAK

HOPE THIS HELPS
