Is this for real?

It looks fake to me. Well lets put it this way......I hope it is a fake. It would be interesting to meet up with a monster like that in the dark while you are walking to your tree stand.

I was reading a thread about this pic over on the FAL Files, and I came across this post by a person claiming to know the man in the pic. The profile for the poster is here.

Here's the story.

The hog in question is thought to be a Hampshire mix of some type due to the markings.

The guy in the photo is a friend of a friend named Eddie. Eddie peddles saw blades, and meat grinder plates for an outfit called southwest saw company here in Texas. The hog was taken somewhere around Llano.
Eddie said the hog weighed 1100 lbs and was shot with a bow, not a rifle as has been reported over the years travelling the net. He would like to take the credit for downing the monster but it wasn't him that shot it, it was farmer that saw the hog while cutting hay. All he had was a bow in his truck so thats what he downed it with. Just one other note Eddie stands 6'3" tall. It was a domesticated pig cross that went wild.

Any way you slice it, that is one monster oinker !!!!!

I dont know if the photo is real or not just a few observations. This here hog is some sort of hamp, note the black and white markings. I doubt 1100 lbs, go to the Iowa State Fair and check out the “Big Boar†sometime, it is HUGE. They usually have two near the 1100 lb range, nice and plump, and that is fed the domestic feed, not acorns and roots who knows what else. The 800 lb could be on target, Pappy had a few in that range back on the farm and we used to move them from pen to pen, they moved awful slow. Back to the State Fair pig, I always make the comment when we go and see that the Big Boar is 1178 and the second place is maybe 1150, “Ya know, if that second place pig emptied the bowels and did not get a good drink this morning it just cost itself the prize!â€
