is "usagunsales.com" making anyone else mad when they use Google?

Has anyone else noticed how on almost any gun related search you'll get a return for usagunsales.com and it's content is completely and totally irrevelent to your search. In fact, it's deceptive because when you click on it it just redirects you to their main page which has nothing to do with whatever your were searching for.

Isn't there a way to contact Google about this so they can filter out all of that sites crap, or do they consider it legitimate?

Oh and this isn't a thread about how google sucks because they are anti-second amendment.
 
Google/Yahoo has nothing to do with it. Search engines don' t work that way. You can filter yourself by being more specific about what you're looking for and use quotation marks. They tell the search engine to look for whatever is enclosed by them only.
'More specific' means don't just search for 'guns'. You'll get every site with that word in it in response. Just like when your kid is doing research on breast cancer. You get all the smut sites too.
 
That's not what I meant. usagunsales.com is deceiving the search engine.

Just try a search for something gun specific (even in quotes) and you'll probably get a return somewhere in the first 20 results for usagunsales.com and the quick description will even look like it's relevant to what you searched for... but click the link and see where it takes you. It goes to a page that has no information or even mention of what you were looking for.

Here's some examples:

Search for "CETME rifle" and you'll get http://www.usagunsales.com/door001/cetme-rifle.htm

Search for "Winchester 30-30" and you'll get http://usagunsales.com/enter/winchester/30-30-winchester.htm

Search for "Mossberg 12 gauge" and you'll get http://www.usagunsales.com/door001/12-gauge-mossberg.htm

.... etc
 
What they're doing is using a redirect page that's loaded with keywords. If you watch the address bar, you'll see the redirect page, then the usagunsales page. If you stop the redirect page, you'll see that it's loaded with the word "winchester."

I do something similar with a website I maintain for a friend's gunshop, but I'm not spamming. The redirect pages have the same text content as the real pages, and just redirect based upon the user's connection speed and Flash plug-in. You can see the same kind of redirect happening in the address bar if you go to http://www.shootersshop.com . Nobody's complained, and Google hasn't banned my friend's site because of what I've done; they seem to think it's legitimate.

What they're doing violates Google's rules. If you're upset enough, report them to Google.
 
This isn't pertinent to the topic at hand, except that the mention of Google & gun rights brought up another personal peeve.

If you don't think Google supports RKBA, and if you believe they unfairly exclude gun-related companies from their advertised links, you may be right. Take action. Use Google as your first stop for ALL of your firearms searches.

Why?

First, they're not making money off of your searching. You are not financially supporting hoplophobia by using their engine. What you are doing is running up gun topics within their statistics of popular searches. The more their statistics show the popularity of firearm-related searches, the more likely they are to chase the money and accept firearm-related sponsored links. They may be so stubborn as to never change, but why not make them think about it?

When you remove your influence from any forum you leave a vacuum for the opposing influence to fill.

That's all I have to say about that.
