I saw an advertisement for these at bargain prices and was thinking of picking up a few but I was a bit hesitant about jumping in. The Israeli typically make high quality products, so are these Mausers made by them and built in .308 or were they gotton from other countries and they simply rechambered them?

Are they strong enough to handle 308 pressures? What do they typically go for?

I had one once and it was a joke, had a sights regulated for 8mm Mauser. Shot ok once I put a scout mount and LER scope on it.

These are nothing but old '98s re-barreled to 7.62 NATO.

Also beware of fakes, many of the barrels were imported and I've seen a few rifles that had them but not the proper IDF stamp on the reciever.

The Israelis used 7.92 mm German, Czech and FN parts and receivers to make these conversions. They are all good, strong Mauser 98s. The last batch I say came out of Central America and looked like they were poorly stored in the jungle. I had one years ago that had an FN receiver and Nazi parts and looked like it just come out of the factory. It was accurate, but did not feed as well as it should have as they didn't modify the magazine.

I have 2 Isreali mausers, one bnz and one byf, and they are great rifles with like new bores that shoot great, for the price, they are real bargains
