Don't know if the rifle is a training tool or the real thing, but aren't AR-15s and extended mags forbotten in the peoples republic of NY?

Yes, the NYSAFE act has effectively disarmed the residents of New York State. The pictured "AR15" is an inert prop used for training. Blue colored arms are blue to indicate that they are non firing training equipment.

That is not true. While getting a pistol permit in NYC is a horror, in many counties it is not. Also, having long arms outside of NYC is not impossible. Older ARs are grandfathered but can't be transfered. You can buy an altered AR style gun with a bizarre stock to avoid the ban and it will take standard AR mags, limited to 10 rounds. Or you can get 'normal' looking AR with a fixed mag that loads through the ejection ports (blah). Min-14s or Ruger PC 9mm carbines are not banned and legit guns, albeit with 10 rounds. Shotguns are available.

If you do get a pistol permit, then there are many useful options within the mag limits. Look at all the 1911s, Shields, revolvers etc.

Thus, I have NO use for the SAFE act but you can have useful firearms in NY, esp. out of the city. A house of worship team that is trained up with 1911s. and the long arms described is not a trivial team.

If you go to a Cabela's in Western New York, you will see rows of handguns and long arms. Yep, we are screwed on the high cap Glock 17s and ARs with 30 round mags but there are options.

You don't really need "training" to stop a machete attack if you have
an AR-15, (like the Jewish fellow in the image) so I would hope that
the "training" would involve non-firearm defense against machetes,
AND who the Hell owns (or carries) an AR-15 in New York ?

NYC is not NYS, as stated before. Rifles are easier in NYC then handguns. You do need training to handle an AR. It would be an interesting test case, for waves of Jewish folk in NYC to apply for permits. That might lead to an interesting test case. Not that SCOTUS will ever take a case that clarifies and defends the 2nd Amend. in a manner that wipes out unreasonable state laws.

We are hoping and likely as justice Kavanagh wrote a 50 page dissent for Heller 2 which Worman v Healey addresses - https://www.cadc.uscourts.gov/inter...C748525791F004D84F9/$file/10-7036-1333156.pdf

Where he summarized, " ... the D.C. ban on semi-automatic rifles and the D.C. gun registration requirement are unconstitutional"

Great. More legal gun owners the better.

I feel the "perfect storm" forming for gun rights/2A. You have the VA gun control bills, 2A Sanctuary Movement growing and Jewish residents being trained and arming up against anti-Semitic attacks. Recent Texas church shooting supporting need for concealed carry. And SCOTUS is poised to hear some gun rights/2A cases.

The group in Monsey block vote according to their sect leader's wishes, and are a potent political force whom politicians cater to. If they want carry permits they will get them.

I am THRILLED to see that my fellow Jew is finally following the words of survivors from 'that' time in our past that was a lesson that cost MILLIONS of lives.

The expression " NEVER AGAIN " was meant to be taken literally.

And since Monsey NY is NOT IN NYC = note to all, they are not under the thumb of the idiotic and horrific 'laws' of that city.

There are so many choices that I will name just a few ,Ruger Mini 14 & Mini 30, Ares 5.56 carbine,M1 Carbine.

Just to name 4 carbine/sporting guns that fit the bill without being modified.

And hell yes,a pistol in the hands of a WELL TRAINED SHOOTER [ yes WELL TRAINED ] is a real deterrent to any who wish to test our 'metal'.

Retired cop,and firearms instr. here and a FIRM believer in taking control of one's own destiny.

Not sure why anyone is mentioning NYC. The training is happening in Monsey which is about an hour north of NYC. Still under the NYSAFE Act but not the NYC gun laws.
