As of yesterday I am the proud owner of a Springfield Armory-built U.S. Rifle, Cal. .30, M1. It's an "upgrade" from the Century one I sold to TheFitzvh back in September (see this thread). Ordered it on 06 November, delivered on 12 January. Serial number, according to oldguns.net puts it as 1944 manufacture. (Woohoo! a WW2 rifle!) Barrel marked 10-44. WRA trigger group and mismatched stock, with front and rear handguards being walnut and the stock being some sort of yellow-finished wood. (Anyone know what this might be? Maple? Beech? Something the Greeks put on? Not really a dark yellow, but not the light blond you'd expect from maple, either.) All in all, better condition than I expected from Field Grade, so I'm happy.
