my brother-in-law bought a ithaca 12 gauge model 37 at a gun show and he was wondering when it was made and about how much it is worth? he give $150 for it. the serial number is 239304. hope someone out there can help us thanks.

If he got a working Model 37 for $150 he should hang his head in shame. That gun is worth $200 easily. More if it has a vent rib barrel or a deerslayer barrel. I've seen plenty of Ithacas go for $250-$300 at gun shows in the Northeast.

Of course, condition of the gun is everything. Still, $150 is a steal.

You can congratulate your brother-in-law. He got a great deal.

I have a model 37 I also paid $150 for, six or seven years ago. It's in beautiful condition, perfect mechanically and very nice blueing. I refinished the wood and installed a Decellerator recoil pad.

Funny story, I picked it up at a gun show for a friend. I knew he had mentioned a couple weeks earlier he was looking for a good 12 gauge. When I called him later he hemmed and hawed and said it was for a friend of his, then this friend said that $150 was too much, he wouldn't pay more than $120 for a used Ithaca. I think he was a wheeler-dealer who thought he was going to take advantage of me. I wasn't happy about that and I also would never buy a gun for someone I didn't know real well so I kept it. It's now my favorite shotgun. His loss was definitely my gain.

Serial number is 277,XXX. I assume mid 50's?

thanks for the info. the gun is in good shape. so he is happy. now can you tell me what B I L means Black Talon? I don't know much about guns because i am a woman, i was just helping my bronther-in-law out. thanks again.

Thanks, now I feel really stupid. I guess I didn't put two and two together.
