Has anyone ever heard of a fletcher special ithaca serial number 586XX?
The gun is an old side by side 16 gauge with the words "nitro powder steel" stamped onto the rib. Fletcher Special is the only other marking on the actual metal part of the gun, the butt plate is the only indication that it is an ithaca...any ideas are appreciated...I scored this from my Aunt's closet along with a Remington 517-T .22, two Springlfield 45-70 Trapdoors, and a sporterized 1903 Springfield .30-06. Not to mention an extremely old muzzle loader. My Aunt sure hooked me up, she was happy to give them to someone who wouldn't get rid of them, and I keep EVERYTHING.

You got me on that one, but I'm glad you're giving your family heirlooms a good home. You have some treasures there- take care of them!

I found a small auction ad for an old 10 ga. hammer gun made by:

FLETCHER, WESTGATE STREET, GLOUSCESTER

That serial number would be from 1900, making it a Crass Model if it's an Ithaca and not just an Ithaca buttplate on another gun.

I'll keep looking, but so far not much luck. I haven't tried the Ithaca collectors yet. Maybe tomorrow night.

thanks

This gun is hammerless with double triggers, I appreciate your help on this. It is quite possible that it is an ithaca butt plate on another gun; it does match seamlessly, but still a possibility.
