Ithaca model 51, cleaning instructions

I inherited an Ithaca model 51, semiautomatic,which has probably never been cleaned beyond the bore. It's in good shape and I've shot it twice in the last year, however I don't want to get into a situation where I need it and it quits on me. Any help would be appreciated.
