Maybe I'm late to the party:rolleyes: but I just saw on Ithaca's website that they brought back their 1911. They look like custom jobs and their made in the USA. They said the MSRP is $1,200 and will be available this year. They look like they put the Remington R1 to shame. Check it out if you haven't already.

The Ithaca better be a sweet shooter or they won't sell many. I'm looking forward to seeing one. I like the made in USA part.
I shot a Remington about a month ago......I liked it!

R1

I got an R1 Sunday. The fit and finish is very good, the feel is great, haven't shot it yet but expect to this Saturday. My first 1911.....what was I waiting for?

I thought Ithaca came to the 2010 SHOT Show with some new 1911s?

And comparing what I saw on Ithaca's website to a Remington R1 isn't exactly a good comparison. The R1 is a GI-style with fixed sights. Looks like the Ithaca has a few more bells and whistles. Can't really make an accurate comparison if the two guns don't have similar features.

The R1 has windage adj front and rear. I know I have one. Mine was shooting too low at my backyard range so I filed the front down.....too much! Emailed Rem on how much for a new one; no prob they said promptly, we'll send you a new sight and if that don't solve your prob let us know and we'll send you a pickup slip to send it back. I've got the sight but its been too cold to shoot much, plus I've recently got the hots (once again) for 22 LR pistols.

I guess you're right, from the pictures it looked like a fixed sight. I guess it's a throwback to fixed sight look. But it looks like the Ithaca has fully adjustable elevation and windage rear sight.
