i just acquired a jc higgins model 88 22 cal revolver, i understand that it was made for sears by high standard.it is a pre sentinal model. all the pictures and literature seen shows a 4"and a 6"barrel, while mine is a two inch barrell. the revolver is 95 % w/ a hand tooled holster. did they make a two inch model.? also any ideas where i could find a copy of an old sears catalog w/ this gun listed- thanks in advance bill

J.C. Higgins Model 88 Revolver

My Higgins Mod. 88 cylinder star does not retract, after extracting spent shells, like my High Standard Sentinel deluxe does. Is this normal ?:)

I don't know that particular gun, but if this parts drawing is any indicator perhaps the cylinder extractor return spring is broken or missing.

Does the extractor move smoothly in and out?
My Model 88 is the basic model and did not have an ejector return spring. Later models did. The ejector does move forward and backward smoothly. Apparently, all is as it was originally intended to be. Thanks for your input.
