J-frame 442 Pocket Holsters

I think the majority of people are going to recommend either an Uncle Mikes, a Nemesis, or a Mika pocket holster. A few really like their leather pocket holsters. I've got a Mika on order. It's been about 8 weeks. I'm hope'n everyday when I head to the mail box. The Mika has a big following for the 642/442.

I've tried Kramer horsehide, DeSantis Nemesis and Mika.

The Mika is my favorite - it stays in the pocket like its supposed to.

The Kramer is pricey, but a very nice holster. However it can stick to the gun on the draw at times.

I don't care for the Nemesis at all. I think the Nemesis shines with mouse guns (works great for my P32 Kel-Tec), but not so much with the bulkier J-Frames.

I use a cheap "Ace Case" that works just like it's supposed to. Keeps the revovler clean and in position. When I draw, the holster stays in my pocket.

What else could anyone ask of it?

I had the Mika recommend to me. Good luck getting one though. I am on week 15 waiting for mine. I have been using the Uncle Mikes in the meantime and it does the job.

I carry my 642 in a Mika pocket holster. I can only say good things about it. The holster flatens with use. You can carry all day and forget it is there. Highly recommended.
I also have a Kramer pocket holster for a model12-2. It also works well. The down side is it costs a lot more.

I'm not averse to spending big money on a holster if it buys me a rig that works as promised (I've got some Milt Sparks, Brommeland and Ken Null holsters that were not cheap), but I have found that the holster that works best with my 642 is the "el cheapo" Uncle Mikes #36.

It weighs nothing, tucks IWB perfectly, and occasionally serves as a pocket holster.

My .02...

I agree with CDH.

After too many specialized holsters for pocket or belt the simple Uncle Mike's with a clip that can be used on either side works great in pocket or in waist and cost about $10. max.

Both my wife and I carry 442's in front jeans pocket with the holster clipped on the edge of the pocket and the butt of the pistol just showing. We always wear loose stuff that covers easily.

I most often treat the 442 as a bug to my Glock 19 carried OWB in a Chado leather belt holster, but sometimes use only the 442, like for going to the doctor where the Glock might too easily be seen.

I use a Safariland for my 642 and really like it. I picked up a Mika too, but prefer the Safariland.

Both versions from Robert Mika and an Uncle Mike's work well for my 642. I have a couple more expensive leather pocket holsters and a Nemesis, but use them very little, and for specific pockets that they work best in. I paid less than 9 bucks for the Uncle Mikes. The Mika holsters are an exceptional value, definitely worth the wait, and they just get better when broken in.

Anyone try a holster that fits in their jacket pocket or is it the norm to use your pant pocket? I just purchased a 442 and shopping around for a good holster.

Doc - Welcome to the forum!

I usually pants pocket carry my 642. If I'm running to the store I may just drop it in a jacket pocket sans holster. I do have a holster from http://www.rkbaholsters.com that fits my ranch coat pocket and keeps the gun more secure.
