I Just bedded a new Farrell Base to my 700sps. Actually I did it twice. Turns out that brown colored Kiwi shoe polish tends to pull half of the bedding compound from the scope base. People have a variety of options when choosing a release agent for JB Weld. I used Accardo silicon based fly line dressing on my second attempt. This was the ticket! It smoothes down to leave absolutely no profile on the bedding compound, removes easily with ammonia based gun cleaner, and most of all... no sticking....period! Hopes this post will help somebody.

I would use PVA release compound. That is what it's made for , and you can readily buy it in small quatities.

Acraglass release agent works fine with any epoxy. I have also used carnauba wax thinned with mineral spirits to a brushable consistency successfully.

Simonize paste car wax is what I use as a release agent for epoxy.

Brown polish vs. Neutral polish.... Is there a difference other than color?
