In these troubled times, having a supply of fuel can be very beneficial. Cheaper then dirt has jerrycans on sale right now. I was thinking of getting some for storage and transport of extra fuel. Does anyone have extensive experience with jerrycans. Are they safe? How much fuel is lost during storage? What are the safe ways of transporting them? Are they temperature sensitive?

Can I store jerrycans with gasoline in them in an unheated shed (far away from my house).

Thank You

This is firearms related....how?

Your question would get more informed responses in a survivalist forum.

Not gun related but yes, you can store them outside. Get some fuel stabilizer to help keep the fuel in good shape. They won't lose much fuel over time as they are air and fuel tight. Keep them full and rotate the fuel in them through your mowers etc. and they will work fine. Remember these were designed for use by military where they could be in large outdoor fuel storage dumps and transported by trucks etc. I've had good luck with them.

To make this gun related, NO, they are NOT bullet proof! If you shoot a Jerry can with even so lowly a caliber as .22 long rifle, you WILL put a hole in them!!
