I really like the idea of this Zanotti modular safe. The Z1 is more than triple what I wanted to spend, but as my collection grows, I will need (1) more space and (2) more security. Then I will buy a proper gun safe and have the job box as ammo/tool storage.

It would be good to assemble a safe life this, then build a reinforced closet around it for extra thief and fire protection. You wouldn't be able to move the safe without disassembly or totally tearing down the closet. If you ever move home, you just leave the closet in place and pack up your safe.

I agree that pad locks or the piano hinge are the weak point on job boxes. Some boxes seem to do a better job hardening these areas than others. For now, the job box will probably have to serve. It will still be an upgrade from the current situation and I'll worry less when I'm away from home.

I will leave my old lightweight footlocker padlocked next to the job box as a decoy. I expect a typical burglar will steal something quick and easy like a TV, laptop or jewelry.
