If anyone is interested, the movie "The Outlaw Josie Wales" was based on a book named "Gone to Texas" by Forrest Carter. Published in 1973 by Delacorte Press.

In the book, Josie carred two, tied down forty-four Colts, and his hideaway gun was an 1851 Navy Colt. The movie followed the book pretty close, even to the dialoge. The movie did add a lot that was not in the story.

If you like that sort of thing, the book is worth reading.

Amazon was selling the two JW books in one volume a while back and I picked it up. Its a pretty entertaining read.

I've looked for it in used book shops a few times. Maybe some day I'll come across it for a buck.

Check them out used on Amazon. You'd be surprised how cheap they can be. I'm pretty sure I shipping cost more than the book.

Thanks, Cowboy2, I appreciate the link.

I'm getting to where I prefere the library to store books for me rather than do it myself. An inter-library loan should locate it.

I wonder if the movie was based on both books?

One of my favorite movies. I must have watched it about 30 times this year alone. Pretty much all of Clint Eastwood Western movies stay out next to my DVD player. All year around. Pretty much on Saturdays if nothing is going on. I will have my father come over and my boys and my father will sit and watch Western Movies all day long. Ya everyone hates us for it. Sometimes we will pull out the cap and ball revolvers line them up on the table and put on the movies.

The second book takes up where the first stops. I thought the story was actually better. If you love westerns, I highly suggest this set.

Josey Wales

It was on the TV earlier, so I broke out some pop corn and watched it again. I can't tell you how many times I've seen it.

A couple of weeks ago, I was laid up sick and sat through The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, plus For A Few Dollars More and A Fistfull of Dollars.

Those books are not for the young. For those who want to know they have women being abused physically in them, and for that I dont recommend them. Definitely not wholesome reading, didnt even finish the second one.

the truth about the world we live in

Shouldn't be withheld from the young lest they be deceived into thinking the world is full of nice people,on television they only cut the nude part of the attempted rape of Josey's girl out,i teach my kids that in this world we have sunflowers, sunshine and sonsofbitches:D
