I know what you mean

SM,
I know what you mean, dude, I am 56 years old and I am into avoidance of stuff that I don't have to confront. Of course, if a confrontation happens (in my line of work...I am a code enforcement officer) I try to defuse the situation, but I don't run from it.
In my regular life, I don't mind running from trouble or at least get out of there before the SRHTF.
But having said that...here in soCal(thus the user name)....I have had way more than my share of confrontations. Several incidents where guns were pulled on me, I don't even count other non-firing weapons.
I am the most peaceful type of guy you've ever met (since I left the service in '68)
But at the present at my ripe old age and me just wanting to get to retirement age....I am being investigated because of an accusation made by an ex-employee, I have been written up for insubordination two months ago and I have been bounced from my job....transfered three times in a 28 year career.
I might argue when someone is being unfairly treated or something like that, but every evaluation that I have had by different supervisors is that I turn out an excellent work product. But I do verbally defend myself when pushed in a corner. (Without expletives and being respectful)
So what gives?
A bunch of the guys are thinking of going postal because of our supervisor, but that's a different thread.
Sorry, I am in a quandry too.

bad karma?

sounds to me like pretty good karma to me,(other than the back ach from the adrinaline dump), you survived an altercation with a larger "armed" oponent and got a girl off to a new start, just got to look at it as glass half full!
