Hi All
First post here. I have been reading the archives. Nice forum. Looking at a 6" K-22 with ser # K37XXX. I am thinking this may be year 1947 but not sure? The grips are correct for the gun but one interesting point is that one of the S&W round inserts was not pressed or pulled up square and sits just a bit cockeyed in its hole. At first I thought maybe it got that way from damage, but it has all the age indications of being that way from the factory. The backing plate inside the grip is intact and has no other marks on it. No cracks or dings in the wood eithor. Were the grips manufactured by S&W or by a sub-contractor? They are what I believe the Magna style grips? (not the target style). Sort of gives it character in a way.
Thanks for any feedback.
