I just added a red Crimson Trace laser to my P9. The engineering and location on the trigger guard seems stable. The on-off button on the grip is located well.
Now the bad stuff. The laser attaches sort of clam shell like around the trigger guard with a gap of about 1/8" between the two halves at the muzzle end of the trigger guard, inside of the trigger guard (see attached). The first time I shot it, my trigger finger got scuffed pretty good by the edges of the 1/8" gap due to recoil of this little gun. I tried different placement of my trigger finger. Bit me again. Thought OK this is no fun. I put on a pair of leather gloves to finish out the magazine and sight in the laser.
I thought about trying a piece of foam and electrical tape but gosh, a $200.00 laser on a $500.00 gun, this repair seemed kind of tacky. If I had to use it for self defense, the bad guy would probably laugh like the rabbits on that commercial with a rattle snake with a baby rattle attached to his tail.
I sent an e-mail to Crimson Trace but haven't heard back yet.
