ok ive decided my next gun is going to be a kahr, poly frame, and 9mm but now it comes to this... i cant decide which one.. i like them all now when you vote exclude price.. go for quality, reliability, and accuracy
Because you said price is excluded , I voted P9.. I have a CW9, which is my favorite pistol, but if I could have bought a P9 for the same amount ($400) I would have gone with that one just because of the nicer looking slide and dovetail sights.
Functionally there is no difference, they share the same frame.
I could really go for a PM9 but its reputation is so bad I wouldn't dare!
How about a P9 Covert?! I have one and love it - the barrel length of the P9 and the shorter grip of the PM9, and you can convert it to a P9 with a longer magazine!
I have had a P9 for several years and it has served me well. I have had the opportunity to fire the PM 9 and I find it uncomfortable. The shorter grip makes it harder to control and I feel the difference in length is not worth it. The P9 conceals just as well as the PM9 and is a lot more enjoyable to shoot. I have also used a P40 and PM40 and they are too much gun to shoot for an extended time.
What niche do you want it to fill? I wanted one for a pocket gun, either as a primary or a backup, so I went with a PM9. It did require a trip back to the factory to make it run right. If you want it for belt holster carry you're better served by the larger gun IMO.
ok wow... gunshop is sold out of everything but the cw9... man it looks rugged built like a rock... feels heavier than a glock! atleast i think anyway has a metal guide rod which i like... downfalls only one mag and they are expensive, pinned front sight... would never put night sights on it but i would still like to have the option, and the mim slide stop but i guess im going to have to deal with it because i already put 200 down tonight i wish there wasnt as many people to go there and buy up the good stuff but atleast i have another gun to add
Personally, I'd pick the P9 or CW9 (they're nearly identical) over the PM9. Kahr had a lot of trouble with the PM9 and I would want to make certain that the bugs are out of this design before purchasing (I have an early PM9, but haven't wrung it out yet). P9s have been around much longer and have a better track record. The CW series is pretty much a budget P series.
You could wait for the PM45 which is due out anytime.
The PM9 is 4lbs of stuff in a 3lb can of SS and Poly. It is a unique design. For a carry with a 3 inch barrel 7 rounds and highly concealable its a good choice in my view. Rember this is one step up from a J frame belly gun and not designed for long range combat.
I have two carries PM9 or 642. My PM9 is up to 350 rounds and is improving. Nice smooth light trigger.
Iv'e noticed it likes short round nosed JHP. COR BON has been the best JHP. Too bad it likes FMJ the best.
They also like to be kept clean and lubricated. When I get over 50 rounds without cleaning I will have an occasional fail to feed. Never under 50 with any issues so as a carry I'm comfortable with it.
