kershaw "leek" ..... how to spot a fake?

i am in the market for a Kershaw Leek folding knife. they run from $50-80 bucks. i found a bunch on ebay going for around $26-30. some are new in box and some are listed as "seconds" (new but blemished in some way). i have read that the "leek" model has been faked a lot. i was wondering if someone could give me some insight on how to spot a fake, or has anyone ever purchased a fake.

Don't know about how to spot a fake, but Amazon has them for 44 bucks.

I've seen new all stainless combo edge leeks dip as low as $29 new in box though I forget where. If the buyer has perfect for almost perfect history on ebay and/or there are close ups of the blade and the handle then jump on it. If you use paypal you shouldn't have any issues; they usually side with the buyer so people feel more secure with their service.


If you want to post the auction here we might be able to help you spot a fake. And if the price is good I'd just jump on it. I've saved a ton of money buying half my knives on ebay. I sniped a new in box Tasman Salt for $35 including shipping. I once just missed out on a Lum Chinese folder in ZDP-189 for $80! I'm still kicking myself over that. (because of work I checked on the auction a couple hours too late)

I think if the seller has a good rating and is shipping from the US it should be legit. I saw some Leek look a likes but they weren't advertised as Leek nor did they have the Kershaw name on them. You can't be 100% sure, but I wouldn't think a seller who makes their living off ebay would risk it.
I like my Leek a lot.

I'm guessing if the knife has the Kershaw logo, its legit. I have one and really like it. Kershaw has great Customer service. I saw a Kershaw at Cabelas for 20 bucks. migha been the Leek?

No guarantee there since good Chinese ripoff factories copy the logos as well.
