Based on what the OP described about the gun & not seeing it in person, I'd advise passing. Not because I think a Baer would rattle like that but because it sounds like someone tinkered with it. I have also seen a case where someone unknowingly bought a "Colt" only to find out it was a Colt slide on a parts frame/gun, could have been a similar case.
