gazpacho's procedure is right on. However here is foolproof tip on knowing if you have it assembled correctly for those of us with poorer eyesight:

If you have it assembled correctly, the slide stop will be spring loaded when pushing it up. If not it will not spring back when pushing it up.

Following RH45's recommendation, I took the Solo put to the range range with 2 boxes (50 rounds total) of Remington Golden Sabre 124gr +P 9mm.

50 rounds fired
0 FTEs
0 FTFs

Accuracy was high for the stubby pistol, and recoil seems a touch more managable.

My Kimber Solo Carry DC Review

I just bought a Kimber Solo Carry DC last week even after reading every review I could find on it. I loved the way it looked and the way it felt in my hands, I just had to have one. I also did something I rarely do, I read the owner’s manual from cover to cover before I took it to the range. I went to the range yesterday, I had two magazines, and I loaded them with 6 rounds each. I racked one in the chamber then dropped the clip loaded one more in the clip for the gun to be 6 + 1. I only bought 147 gr ammo per the owner’s manual. This is what happened for me.
50 Rounds of Remington 147 gr FMJ
25 Rounds of Remington 147 gr Golden Saber JHP
25 Rounds of Winchester Supreme Elite PDX1 147 gr JHP

0 FTEs
0 FTFs

At 21 feet I was grouping 6 shots about the size of my fist every time.
Took it home and cleaned it spotless and made sure the slide stop pin is under the spring.
It’s on me now and it carries so well with a custom made holster, you don’t even feel it.
I am Very happy with this purchase.

Thank you and I would like this to be a formal apology for using the term (not going to say it) it was the last time. From now on I will use rubber band to hold my chip bags closed. I have removed the word from my vocabulary. Glad to be here.

Just a little good-nature razz. No hard feelings?
By the way I just noticed you're new here, so welcome to the High Road.
We're a bunch of nice guys -- really. You'll like it here. ;)

No worries, I learned what not to say. I just hope I continue to learn more on this site. Glad to be here looks like a great site. I have always had a handgun in my truck and house, I just now started carrying everywhere I go. I live in B,ham and it’s not getting any safer here. As for the Razzing I can dish it out and take it as well. So far the Kimber Solo Carry DC is my favorite to carry. Wondering if I should have gotten the crimson trace grips.

I have to admit, I was nervous as a pregnant nun buying another Kimber, yet alone one known to be ammo specific, but a store near me had all of their Solo models on clearance pricing.

Bought a new DC model as it just looked really cool. I fired a box of Ficohhi 124gr and two boxes of Sig Sauer branded 124gr JHPs, no malfunctions.

Shot 25 rounds of Federal 147gr, no malfunctions. I then decided to make sure the 115gr disclaimer was true....went 24/25. I may have limp wristed that one, but I was impressed it was running so well.

Really like the trigger, and found spare mags new for $20 which isn't bad at all.
