Please view attached photos: Barrel only is from Colt Defender, Parts kit is from Kimber Ultra series 1 parts kit; both purchased on GB. But as I have come to know Kimbers better, the parts kit barrel looks kind of weird to me,
1. Is that a very early Kimber Ultra barrel, or something cobbled up from something else?
2. Would it be feasible to use the Colt Defender barrel with the Kimber upper?
(All things being equal in the link dept. that is). Drop-in mod?
Would that give me any advantage?

I'm not sure, but it looks like a standard Kimber 3" conical bull bbl.

No, as I understand it, 1911 bbls must be individually fitted to the slide. Specifically the locking lugs fitted to the recesses, and the muzzle end fitted to the bushing (or slide opening on a bushing-less variant).

It looks like a typical Kimber barrel. In other words, it's rusting!
