Still on my quest to find a .280ai rifle I can buy locally. I’ve found one for sale within 3 hours drive. It is a Kimber Hunter “Boot Campaign” and it has the “Kimpro II” finish on the barrel and receiver. I can’t find much about it searching online. One forum comment indicated it is no more durable than paint. Anyone here have experience with this finish?

My Kimber UltraCarry was so finished. I would put it in the neighborhood of CeraKote or the other bake-curing surface finishes. It wore off the slide rails and locking lugs slowly, but didn't show wear anywhere else much at all in several years of carry.

I'd predict it'll be an excellent rifle finish provided you don't go skiing down any rocky hillsides.
