Reducing Gun Violence
Gun violence claims a life almost every other day in King County, and costs us almost half a billion dollars a year. It crosses all income and ethnic groups. And it is preventable – if we have a Prosecutor committed to keeping guns out of the hands of criminals and kids. Bill has on-the-ground experience keeping us safe from gun violence, having served as the assigned prosecutor for gun crimes in the Prosecutor’s Office Juvenile Division. As Prosecutor, Bill will crack down on gun crimes and end the cycle of illegal gun sales.
The Republicans ended the federal ban on sales of new assault weapons three years ago – but Bill will join Seattle Police Chief Gil Kerlikowski and other leaders in our law enforcement community in the effort to make sure that criminals don't have access to military-style assault weapons.
We need to take steps right now to prevent the next Virginia Tech, Columbine, the next Jewish Federation shooting, the next Capitol Hill tragedy. Bill Sherman is committed to keeping us safe from gun violence.
