Kissing Crane, founded in 1834, is a line of traditional pocket and hunting knives that are made the "old fashioned way", with good solid 440A equivalent stainless steel and attention to quality and detail.
HallMark Cutlery has brought back old world tradition with the revered Kissing Crane brand. The 170 plus year old brand may be the epitome of its genre. With names like "Congress", "Canoe", "Toothpick", and "Trapper", these traditional style knives speak of old men whittling on a courthouse bench, kids playing mumbly-peg, and 24 cent gasoline. Kissing Crane knives have and will continue to be a favorite for many generations.

Are Kissing Crane knive Case wannabes or is this a decent knife at a value price in a traditional genre?

I'm kind of liking some of them and think about buying some for gifts and Corporate Swag.
I'm tired of LED flashlights for gift giving.

Upon on further inspection it seems these are made in China...deal breaker for me. At least I didn't order them and find out.

They used to be a quality knife from Germany, don't take this as Gospel but I believe they are in the process of brining production back to Germany.

The newer imported models are decent and would compare nicely to say a Rough Rider but they are no Case by any means all in all I would they are a decent value for the money.

I had a KC stilleto from Smoky Mtn. Knife Works and it was a decent knife, but my foreman saw it and whined until I sold it to him. So I ordered another, and it was badly heat treated soft-bladed junk. So I guess I'm trying to say I wouldn't trust the consistency of quality from them.

440A is not a high quality stainless... Nor is anything that just says "stainless" on the blade...

I bought a kissing crane trapper with red bone handles from Smoky Mountain, and I have been very happy with it, and I care not at all that it was made in China. Fit and Finish are every bit as good as my Cases are, though I doubt the steel is as good. It's not bad either, and is honestly now my most carried trapper that I own.

Not saying they are the best thing since sliced bread, but they aren't a bad little pocket knife.
