I know, right??

Ordered a new wedge and screw from deer creek... Less then $20 shipped..

Jeezzee... I swear, if I keep finding deals like this I might even get the chance to buy my looks back... Eh.. Or my HAIR at least!!! :D

Great deal for $75.00, congrats. I have a brass 1851 Navy .44 kit that I put together back in 1990.

Then when they did all that was required, they ended up having to cold blue, using Birchwood Casey or "44-40 Blue" and the result was disappointing.

So there was the stickler, decent factory blue on rough ground parts or disappointing blueing on decent polish work."

That is exactly the quandary I was in with my kit. I knew the cold blue wasn't very good so I left the bluing alone until recently. I got tired of the mill marks so I'm smoothing it out right now. I'll finish it like I did my Walker: heat the metal in the oven to about 225* and dab the cold blue on lightly with a paper towel, then go over it lightly with steel wool. This results in a pistol with thin patchy blue that looks like it has seen lots of use for years.

Eh.. Interestingly enough, the barrel and cylinder (only major blued parts) dont really HAVE any milling marks and the blueing seems quite nice... Pretty much what Id expect from the factory builds. Now the BRASS parts seem like they could have been finished a little nice, but only on the interior surfaces, again possibly something factory?? Even the grips are a high gloss that would be hard to replicate if one lacked the proper skills and dust free environs...

Im actually wondering what kind of "kit" this guy got... Almost seems like everything was factory finished and he only needed put it all together... Either that he was really QUITE good with it...

Either way, yeah Im really happy with the deal! Wedge and screw should be here Friday and hopefully that will be end of that problem :)

So.. Does anyone know if ASM ever made steel frames for the '60??? I see a lot of brass frame ones on gunbroker, but cant find a steel one... What about steel with the stock cutouts and notch??

Thanks Fingers and Ephraim! Yup, I think youre right, it is one. At almost $250 Im a little light for the moment, but now that I know for sure that they did make them, I can keep my eye out.

One thing, I keep BUYING em and it never leaves me money to send em in to see the goon... And they all REALLY need to. Its just so hard NOT to buy em when ya see em, ya know?? Yup, I think Im addicted LOL!:D

So one other question... My cylinder has no pins, and I found two asm cylinders on ebay, but neither of them had pins either... Did they ever make any that did??? I usually just carry with 5 loaded when im around the family, but lately Im starting to think it would be nice to have the option for full house loading when im not...Especially if I get/make a short barrel for IWB carry..
