That's a "front flipper". The design gets rid of the projecting flipper.

I'm hesitant to buy any knife over $50 from Amazon, because their lax return policy and lack of knife knowledgeable people processing returns has made them a known point for counterfeits getting introduced into the supply chain.

Several South African makers were doing front opening mechanisms in the 1990s, which they evolved into the front flippers we think of today. They're just not as common as the blade edge side flipper tab that sticks out the spine of the handle when closed.
