Knife care.

I just got a sog Gov-Tac (Black TiNi) its a great knife i will get pic up soon. on the site it says to put oil on the knife do you have to do this. if so what kind of oil should i use? i have norton sharpening stone oil, hoppes 9 and wd40 can i use this or do i have to get some thing eles?
it also said while it is not in use keep the blade stored in dry area outside of the sheath to help prevent rust.
When not in use, store knives and leather sheaths separately because leather does absorb moisture and can rust your blade. Tanning salts and acids present in the leather can rust or tarnish steel.

i have a Kydex so if I keep the knife oiled then do i have to keep it out of the sheath.

Any regular light oil or gun oil should be just fine. I use Rem Oil mostly. Treat it the same as a gun. On ones I don't use, I often wipe them down with gun cloth (silicone) rather than oil.

Storing in the kydex sheath should be fine. I would just make sure it is clean inside.

Don't worry about it. Like the man said, treat it like a gun. A little oil helps, but it won't fall apart on you if it's dry for a while. Unless your while is about a hundred years.

I don't like a lot of "goo" on my knives. If carried in the pocket there's always a wad of lint jammed inside the handle.

I do like Sentry Solutions "Tuff-Cloth" and I use a bunch of them on guns, knives and my favorite pasta forks.

My packages say that the cloths are used by Navy SEALs. While I do not personally know any SEALs (to my knowledge) I can only assume they must have saliva like battery acid.

Do not store knives in sheaths, even kydex. They either provide moisture and salts or they trap moisture. Store the knife so that air can circulate around it.

I use the Marine Tuff Cloth or RenWax with 3 in 1 oil for thinner on my blades. I just let it dry to a haze and buff if they're going on display or put them in the storage cabinet (I had a cabinet like an old map/plan cabinet made with the drawers lined in felt just to store knives). I also use vapor barrier pads in the drawers.
