I recently purchased a Kobra sight for my Romanian AK in 5.45.
I was a bit disappointed to find that one of the reticles, the chevron, does not project in the same position as the others.
It has the same point of projection as the top of the verticle section of the T reticle.
I thought it might be useful to use the chevron or T reticle as a longer range point of aim.
My question is, what is the distance at 100 meters between the center dot and the tip of the chevron/vertical post?

I haven't used that scope, so I can't help ya, but I was hoping you could tell me where you found your AK. A friend of mine has been looking for one in 5.45 for about a year.

I bought two in 97 they are marked Intrak MKII.
I ordered them from KY Imports and had them delivered to Archery and Gun Outfitters in Montgomeryville.

I know what you mean, and in reality find that it's actually to your advantage. The Tbar and Chevron are more for the close range issues as they tend to be very quick to pick up. The dot I feel is more for the longer distance. I remember looking into this a bit a couple months ago, and if I remember there is about a 10 inch difference. If one places the dot on the upper chest, the shot will land in the upper body area of a target. Same if it was a deer, if the shot is placed around the upper back (Which people tend to shoot high anyways when rushed) the shot should land in the vitals.

You may find this useful as well.
I pretty much sight mine in with the dot at 50 yards, which allows me to place any of the reticles where I need to for close range work. I plan on doing some trajectory testing like what you're thinking of when I get time. If you do some and get results, please let me know or email me! I'd love to hear what you find out. I've posted this quesiton on a couple boards with not much luck.

.

I'm gonna have my 1999 Sar-2 up for sale as soon as I get done building my Bulgy AK-74. It has the Romanian FSB and the 22mm compensator (the one that is legal to be screwed on and off). It has also had a trigger job. Let me know if you are interested.
