500 S&W, adjustable rear sight, fixed blade front sight.

I have the rear sight screwed down tight. I bottom the front blade out so my desired point of impact is at the bottom edge of the rear sight. It still shoots 6" high at 50 yards.

I don't like aiming 6" low, but there's no more adjustment. What would you do?

Get a taller front sight from S&W.
Raising the front sight will make it shoot lower.

Or
Switch to a lighter bullet.
Less recoil = shoots lower.

OK, figured the taller front site may be the solution. I'm shooting the Hornady 350gr XTP, which is on the lighter side of bullets for this caliber.

These are factory sights, and it's printing 6" from having any adjustment. Seems odd they'd let sights like that out the door on a $1000 gun.

S&W says to send it in for them to check out, so I'll be sending it. They said I should have it back in 3-4 weeks.

It's a good idea to send it to S&W because if they did send the revolver out sighted incorrectly they will repair it for free and cover the postage both ways.
