Do NOT, under any circumstance start looking at 50+ year old 1911's and 1911A1's. They multiply fast too, and mistakes are very expensive. To avoid a horde of moldy old guns descending upon you, send all such items to ME for proper disposition.:D

I am amazed at how fast I went from one 1911 to five of them.

How do you get by with just one?

They are very irresitible when it comes to adding on stuff.

The 1911 addiction..

For you gents and gals of apparent unlimited means, the 1911 addiction doesn't pose too great a problem.

The real problem, at least for me, has been trying to explain to an otherwise understanding spouse, just why I gotta have another sidearm and she can't have ( pick one) that new sewing machine, new tile on the kitchen floor, new washer/dryer, the bathtubs re-glazed, or take our annual vacation in Hawaii instead of Ft.Worth.

salty.

Yeah, but can you beat my record? I went from zero to THREE in less than a week!!! :D

Heck if I know....not for long, as most who buy their first tend to get another! :)

I'm finding this out for myself.....

yes 1911s can be a wee bit addictive

bigjim,

It's people like you who help people like me rationalize that next 1911 purchase.

If you need help rationalizing your next S&W revolver purchase, let me know, 'cause I owe you, now. :)

I understand, I just bought my first yesterday, a NIB Mil-Spec Model #9108 from Springfield. Small gun shop, 516 OTD. I took it to the range yesterday and love it. Put about 165 rounds through it. This thing gets pretty good accuracy out of the box. I am looking at a Kimber so that I can get a .22 conversion kit for it. and practice with the same platform.

That would be like treating a heroin addiction with some crack. No thank you.

Expensive obsession

You've got to be able to set limits. I swore that I would own three (3) S&W revolvers, and I've exceeded that by only fifty-seven (57). Of course that doesn't include the twelve (12) that I've sold.

Now that I've got that under control, I'm starting to look at 1911's. That will be easy, because I've controlled the semi-auto urge; I own zero (0) of them. Of course that doesn't include the sixteen (16) that I've sold.

You're so selfless! Always thinkin' of the other guy, huh?[/QUOTE]
You're right Tam. That's just the kinda guy I am. Therefore I am pleased to offer a 1911 (and A1) rescue service to those who need a respite from those most demanding of mistresses....er ah firearms. Just send 'em in and I'll take good care of 'em all. :D

new guy

There are two types of people who carry cocealed. Those who carry 1911's and those who don't!

Once you own one of the better 1911s you've just got to have another one, or two. :)
